This Wand is rather unique to Mole Valley Bowmen, with the standard boss being replaced with a foam target measuring 6 foot by 4 inches, at ranges of 100 yards for gentlemen, 80 yards for ladies and 60 yards or closer for the various junior age groups.
The tournament is split into two classes - longbow and everything else. However, we do exclude compound bows.
The Wand Shoot has grown in popularity over the years, attracting up to 100 archers, many in medieval dress.
Since 2016 the shoot has included a non-record status Clout in the morning. Archers new to a clout have the opportunity to receive instruction before shooting commences.
The shoot is held at Therfield School the location of which is shown below.
